Thinking

During the past few months I were exploring the science of the brain and the link to our behavior, must say at this point the only thing that I know is how little I actually know of the field of Neuroscience.

However I would like to share the following information that changed my way of thinking and engaging, from the work of David Rock and discussed as my own interpretation. Research has proofed that at all times wê are engaging in one of the following types of thinking:

•Vision (Dreaming and creating new things for the better of the world and ourselves.)

•Process (Developing and optimising processes. The how of achieving. Building quantum relationships.)

•Detail (Thinking and talking about the detail. The rule is not to ponder to long, in this thoughts as one will not get to doing.)

•Problems (Thinking and discussing the things that are not working. Somebody had once said that this type of conversation is like water standing, it is no good and will shortly be invested by all types of insects and viruses, so let the thoughts move like a running river.)

•Drama (Thinking and discussing all those bad things that happened and will still happen and forgetting to open the Present in the moment.)

The research confirms that our thinking needs to be focused on vision and process. So my challenge to you is for the next month, reflect everyday were you were hanging around in your thoughts.

Gossip

Gossip is like spreading a bad virus.

The following words from one of the Veggie Tale songs discribes the impact of gossip and spreading of rumours so well:

It starts as a story. Maybe it’s true, maybe not, but once you repeat it it’s hard to defeat it. Now look at the mess that you’ve got! I’m a rumour weed! I’m a rumour weed! A tiny little story is all I need to make a big mess.

Next time before you start a rumour, remember you are becoming a rumour weed!

Insights

“A warrior of light always keeps his heart free of any feelings of hatred. When he goes into battle, he remembers what Christ said: ‘Love your enemies.’ And he obeys. But he knows that the act of forgiveness does not mean that he must accept everything; a warrior cannot bow his head, for if he did he would lose sight of the horizon of his dreams. He accepts that his opponents are there to test his valour, his persistence, his ability to make decisions. They force him to fight for his dreams. It is the experience of battle that strengthens the warrior of light.” From Paulo Coelho’s Manual of the Warrior of Light

Are you really living…

A good friend of mine always tell the story, of a story line in one of the Maternity Wards he visited: The first 30 sixty seconds of life is pretty dangerous, and then somebody added, the last thirty is also pretty dangerous.

The following quote by Allan Sacs; “Death is more universal than life; everyone dies but not everyone lives,” leads to the following question how do we life these moments between birth and death?

  • Do we life our passion?
  • Do we love unconditionally?
  • Do we care?
  • Are we creating a legacy?
  • Are we brand ambassadors for Christ?
  • Are we living our dreams, or other’s dreams?

Thankful

I am thankful for the wife who says its hot dogs tonight, because she is home with me and not out with somebody else.
For the husband who is on the sofa being a couch potato because he is at home with me and not out.
For the teenager who is complaining about doing dishes, because it means she is at home and not on the streets.
For the taxes I pay, because it means I am employed.
For the mess to clean up after a party, because it means I have been surrounded by friends.
For the clothes that fit a little too snug, because it means I have enough to eat.
For my shadow that watches me work, because it means I am out in the sunshine.
For a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning, gutters that need fixing, because it means I have a home.
For the complaining I hear about the government, because it means we have freedom of speech.
For the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot, because it means I am capable of walking and have been blessed with transportation.
For my huge heating bill, because it means I can afford to keep warm.
And for the lady behind me in church who sings off key, because it means I can hear.
For the pile of laundry and ironing , because it means that I have clothes to wear.
For the weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day, because it means I have been capable of working hard.
For the alarm that goes off in the early hours of the morning, because it means I am alive.
And finally for too much email, because it means I have friends who are thinking of me.
